These gay stories are often far away from the urban centers. An older man escapes a nursing home searching for a lost lover. A young man tries to overcome extreme poverty in a Wyoming trailer court. Magnolia Thunderpussy is a self-described "beer bellied drag queen in control top pantyhose" who finds out that trying to be a mountain mama is harder than anticipated. Markie and Makie are confused Siamese twins raised in the outback in lovely Chicken, Alaska. One short story lightheartedly challenges Islam, Christianity, and Judaism's attitudes towards sizzling hot same sex passion. Over Yonder on dusty lands are Dykes on Bikes, Faggy Truckers, Moo-Moo Buckaroos in virile shitkickers, and Indian war kisses. All struggling on this great big disco ball that glitters pass the grime of this heartland.

John Henry wrote on 07/24/2008:
I don't read too many gay books because they either seem cheesy or I never finish them. I knew these stories would be about cowboys and Indians, but page after page, I started to feel like I was learning a side about small town gays that I have never seen before. Each short story gets better than the one before it. Then the later stories are written more about American Indians written by a gay American Indian writer that are funny, it is almost like you are watching their lives with a video recorder. There is some sexy stuff, but quickly it darts back shattering stereotypes of the gay poor. I almost cried reading one story. More stories from guys like this. I don't think straight people will accept these because the stories are too reality based but hey maybe they will. Don't even get me started on the poetry interludes that are put in here, surprising...very surprising.
