It's been two years since Hank Ballam and Scott Alan fell in love, moved in together, and started building their life. Hank has kept his promise to his boss—and Scott's brother—Brian, proving he can be both his adrenaline–seeking self and a good worker. While Hank enjoys being Brian's right–hand man, nothing gives him more pleasure than going home to Scott every night. But then a major announcement gets Hank thinking about the family he left behind, and he wonders if there is any hope of including them in his new life with Scott.
Seeing Hank's turmoil, Scott quietly reaches out to his lover's family—without telling Hank. Scott is overjoyed when Hank's sister seems receptive, but the reunion doesn't go as planned, leaving Scott to wonder if he's unleashed a series of events that might take Hank from him forever.
When Memory Fails is a sweet book about the love and commitment shared between Brian and Scott. Written by D.W. Marchwell, this love story follows Hank and Scott as they continue their relationship that is now two years old. Hank, having left his family behind as he came out, has created a new family. But when boss and brother-in-law Brian and wife Kari announce that they are expecting, Hank begins to think about the family he left behind. Scott tries to reunite the family unbeknownst to Hank, and when the reunion begins, trouble brews almost instantly. Will Scoot lose Hank to the family that Hank left behind? Will Hank become the man that his father has always wanted him to be?
Marchwell delivers a sweet, tender, sometimes melancholy love story that grabs at your heart. Having left all behind to start a new family, Hank could be any one of the many gay men who have done the same thing. Scott tries, out of love, to make things better, but it makes things worse. This is a case of a lover placing himself last, after what he thinks his lover needs; what he knows his lover wants. Is it enough to let love wait while things work themselves out? I couldn’t put the book down until I found out what was going to happen. In the end, not everything works out, but there is happiness and some reconciliation. We can ever only hope for the best.
This is really a good read. Check it out. If you are a romantic, you’ll love it!
