I started Visiting the Ghost of PuppyBoy in 2005. For years I had been repeatedly revisiting my past in the '90's thru endless pages of journal entries that documented a journey I experienced in the Nightclub Industry. The pages were full of endless drug induced scribble telling about endless drug filled nights, anonymous sex, searching for love while working as a Stripper, traveling on naked money, deep relationships and shallow friendships that created a roller coaster for 7 years in the business. The constant revisiting of the journals became taunting to me and I soon began to think of my once upon-a-time-alter ego-micro celebrity-persona as a ghost haunting me; hence the title.
Due to legalities of the book's contract I cannot provide excerpts of the memoir. I thought of providing a chapter synopsis, but where is the fun in spoiling the whole picture? Instead, I'll just give a little sneak peek....
Part 1 begins in 1992 in Atlanta, there were no journals kept by me at this time...so the tales of my Go-Go Boy dancer past is written from memory. The chapters are centered around two warehouse nightclubs that have an S/M Bondage theme. All the DJ lights, glamor, adoration along with an ego bigger than a hot air balloon quickly begin an addiction to the night club industry.
Part 2 begins in Washington DC where my days of Go-Go dancing turn to Stripping on bars. All exhibition barriers are broken down in this different side of the industry. I am christened with an alter ego stage name PuppyBoy by another dancer. The world of stripping exposes me to money, sex, and drugs as I struggle to find the meaning of friendship and love while continuing to expose myself.
