Review

Hopkins gives a multilayered performance as a recently separated father exorcising his own demons through an acquaintance's custody battle. An intelligent, adult, considered exploration of male-female relationships and the dissolution of marriage. Nicely directed by Newell. Openly gay actor Simon Callow plays an unscrupulous lawyer who represents the husband. Callow uses the ex-wife's lesbianism as the sole reason for her unsuitablity as a mother.
