Every four years a diverse array of athletes, artists, activists and community members celebrate the Gay Games. Originally called the Gay Olympics (the name had to be changed when the Olympic Committee) sued) it was the brainchild of Dr. Tom Waddell, who placed sixth in decathalon at the Mexico City Olympics in 1968. Most people are surprised to learn that The Gay Games has become one of the world's largest sports events because any adult can participate. The first games were held in San Fransisco in 1982 and '86. Then can Vancouver in '90, New York City in '94, Amsterdam in '98 and Sydney in 2002. Due to an impass in the LGBT sports world there were rival games in 2006, Gay Games VII in Chicago and Rendezvous Montreal. Sports remains one of the last bastions of homophobia in our society. Not one pro athlete has come out while playing on a major sports team. This jock doc features Martina Navratilova, David Kopay, Billy Bean, Armistead Maupin, James Hormel and many musical stars. In addition the film is narrated by Olympic Medalist Greg Louganis.
