Synopsis

Review

Sticks & Stones from Abigail Roux and Madeleine Urban is another instant classic in gay suspense literature. This is the second book in the Cut and Run series by Urban and Roux. It measures up to many of the gay suspense/romance writers of the day.

Special Agents Ty Grady and Zane Garrett are sent on vacation due to on-the-job stress and borderline mental heal evaluations. After a tough previous assignment, both men are having a tough time dealing with desk jobs and are driving co-workers crazy, especially Ty. Their personal relationship, a little closer than most people know, is also strained. Neither is pleased to be forced to take a vacation but when the ultimatum is put forth by the boss, they begrudgingly accept.

Ty invited Zane to go to West Virginia to meet his family and play intermediary to save Ty from his family. Zane accepts the invitation, but has no idea what Ty has planned, or what’s in store for him at the family homestead. An interesting family, including Grandpa Chester, a father who has instilled blind obedience in his sons, and a loving mother round out the family, whom the sons have dubs as “the galloping crazies”.

A preplanned hiking trip turns into an ordeal worse than some of their assignments with the FBI, and there are twists to the story that neither Zane not Ty have anticipated. This is another winner!
