Henri Gustave's Stewardess Boy looks to be a lot of fun - and stay tuned - volume two is on the way!!!
Prepare For Take-Off! Twenty-three-year-old Eric Saunders must have jet fuel running through his veins. He's fantasized for years about a career in the sky--flying wherever a job as a flight attendant may take him. When he is finally hired by a major airline, he envisions a whole new life for himself, including unlimited opportunities for travel and adventure. But first he must earn his wings by getting through the company's training program. A cinch, he thinks, until he realizes that stewardess school is no place for sissies. The program is rigorous, and many trainees won't make the cut. Join Eric on a wild ride as he sets out to prove to his classmates, his instructors, and, most of all, to himself that he has the right stuff to fulfill his dreams.
I found Stewardess Boy fun and entertaining. Henri Gustave does a great job of getting all of the characters involved in the plot and keeping the action going. This was probably not the type of book I would usually buy, and it is definitely not cerebral, but it is worth the read if you like light, breezy literature with a lot of mild drama. Eric is a little over the top with his obsession of wanting to be an airline steward, but Gustave makes the story and the main character work well. His cast of supporting characters are interesting, and I see that a second book about Eric’s adventures in the airline industry is in the making.
There is nothing about this book that I would consider boring. It took me a few chapters to really get into it, but once I’d started, I wanted to read more. There are all kinds of antics going on, including the hot and oversexed roommate at training school, Anthony. Add to that Ginnie Jo, a former friend and co-worker of Anthony’s – and they hate each other… There are so many interesting story lines and subplots going on that a second book can take a variety of different directions. Who knows, maybe it will be on my buy list?! Read it, tell me what you think.
