More addictive than shopping and running a close second to "Absolutely Fabulous!" as the funniest TV show ever created, "Sex and the City" has become must-see TV.

The brainchild of "Melrose Place" creator Darren Star, "Sex" plays like an oversexed, NC-17 hybrid of both his famous Heather Locklear bitchfest and his NYC-based flop "Central Park West," and this time he hits every mark. Based on Candace Bushnell's best selling book, Parker (Golden Globe Winner for Best Actress) stars as Bushnell's alter-ego Carrie Bradshaw, a sex advice columnist in the Big City. Her circle of friends includes the WASPy Charlotte (Davis), power-lawyer ice-queen Miranda (Nixon) and socialite/party girl/diva/slut Samantha (Cattrall, in the role she was born to play). The girl's dialogue is sure to cause some to wince (nothing is sacred - from analingus to "Friar Fuck"). If you thought the crew of "Seinfeld" were shallow and that "AbFab"'s Patsy and Edina were the nastiest creatures on Earth, you ain't seen nothing yet. Featuring nasty and hilarious one-liners that would make even Joan Rivers take pause, addiction is entirely a possibilty here. Knowledge of New York is helpful but not a must, but you better be up on your labels, clubs, trendy restaurants and mixology (Cosmopolitans are the drink of choice for the girls). This season was interrupted by the 9/11/01 terrorist attacks, but came back with a vengeance.

The entire fourth season consists of 18 half-hour episodes (with a total running time of 9 hours), and is available as a 4-tape boxed collector's set or on 3 DVDs.
