Michael Breyette is a young artist who has been successful placing his images of his paintings on the Internet, feeling the ideas he longed to share were those that should be selected only by a specific audience. It is therefore refreshing to see that in the past few years this artist has been more free to express his art in a more solid and more public Manner. This book, SEASONS OF LOVE: THROUGH THE SEASONS, SEXY AND LOVINGLY, is the first formal portfolio of his work and while the consistency of the paintings is uneven, the idea of painting the male model in a format of seasonal changes makes it a good book for year round enjoyment.
As celebrity/fashion photographer and director Mike Ruiz states in his Foreword, Breyette's men show a sense of realism in the 'fantasy' topics he paints. While the models are of the 'ideal body' types Breyette does not make that aspect the focus of his compositions. There are images are pure fantasy - such as a sardonic horned male with tail that is clearly out of mythology and across the page is a couple, one of whom is clearly a vampire - and yet even here there is eye contact with the viewer that makes them very live and very human and hence very approachable! His models are show in images solo and in partnership, in cowboy settings, in nature setting and in settings adorned with the accoutrements of Christmas. Breyette is unafraid to share his own sensual fantasies, and it that personal communication with the viewer that makes his work endearing.
