Andrew's life is a cliché: he's a gay man trapped in a loveless marriage, thanks to his religious, overbearing mother. Then a new couple moves in down the street, and Andrew finds himself falling for Nathan in a big way. Nathan is straight, married, and just about to be a father, but after one fateful night out together at a club, Nathan has to face the fact that his feelings for Andrew go way beyond that of a friend and neighbor.

Nothing Ever Happens by Sue Brown is an excellent book. This is the story of Andrew, a gay man trapped in a straight marriage by a controlling mother and social pressures. His wife, Stephanie, knows that Andrew is gay and together they raise their son in their little urban oasis. All seems okay until the new neighbors move in down the street. Sparks began to fly almost immediately as Andrew meets his new neighbor Nathan. They are immediately attracted to each other, but Nate is married also.
It takes a while, but the two get together. Nothing is ever easy for Andrew, it seems, because Nate isn’t ready to admit to his love for the other guy. Brown takes us on a whirlwind of a romantic rollercoaster as Andrew moves on with his life. It’s not over though. When you think things are going to finally settle down, fate steps in and delivers a blow that will change everything for the players in this little romance/drama. What was unattainable becomes a reality; reality becomes fatal; and what was lost becomes available. How do these characters deal with all of the changes and daily dramas, as nothing really is ever easy? But wait, something does happen. Is it what we hope, or is the twist of fate a plot twist that takes us on another journey? Read and find out. You won’t regret it!
