One of our favorites, Greg Herren is back with new Chanse MacLeod mystery!
It begins as a simple missing persons case—a young MMA fighter's mother has mysteriously disappeared. But as New Orleans private eye Chanse MacLeod starts digging around, he discovers that she is the leader of a group fighting the powerful Archdiocese of New Orleans over the closing of two churches. As the trail leads from corrupt church officials to powerful real estate developers to the world of cage fighting, Chanse soon realizes there are a lot of powerful people who want to make sure she stays gone—and don't have a problem with getting rid of a pesky gay private eye.

Gay, New Orleans private investigator Chanse MacLeod is hired by a young cage fighter, in order to find his missing mother, a local activist battling the Catholic archdiocese that wants to close two local parish churches. As Chanse gets into the seemingly-simple missing person investigation, he finds possible dangerous links to greedy real estate developers, family secrets and battles, corrupt church officials, dishonest fight promoters, and an affair that could turn deadly. As seems to be his pattern in every case, he also discovers a possible witness has been murdered, which involves the N.O. police in the investigation.
Herren is the master of great gay mystery novels, and this is no exception. Very well written and developed, riveting and featuring supporting characters you have to either love or hate. One of his best to date. Four stars out of four.
