A rollicking romantic comedy with a sexual twist, Mango Kiss follows lovers butch Lou and femme Sass as they move to San Francisco and enter an eye-popping world of open relationships and S/M dykes.
Lesbian monogamy takes a playful whipping when best friends/lovers explore the world of role playing, masochism and open relationships in this candy-colored, spicy, fish-out-of-water tale. Captain Daddy Lou (Michelle Wolff) and Princess Sassafras (Danièle Ferraro) move to San Francisco to be queer performance artists, but instead embark on mischievous new friendships. As they try to establish their non-monogamous love affair with “rules,” things get complicated. Lou is head-over-heels in love with Sass, who is busy exploring her “mommy” role by punishing her misbehaving punk baby butch. Tired of sitting home alone, the Captain offers to “bottom” for the stylish and sexy dominatrix Chelsea Chuwawa. The undertow becomes dangerous when the new “family” of four gathers at Princess’ birthday party and a naughty-but-nice game of “hit or kiss” (spin-the-bottle) begins. Sexual tensions erupt, lines are crossed and rules are broken leaving Sass and Lou questioning their bubble-gum relationship. Watching this all unfold is a zany supporting cast including Sass’s hippie mom played by Sally Kirkland. With sugar-coated quips and frolicking adventures, Mango Kiss is a tongue-in-cheek dyke tribute to the old-fashioned romantic comedy.
