The eternal tale of the naive country boy who is seduced and corrupted by the evils of the big city is played out in this fascinating and erotic drama by the late gay Filipino director Lino Brocka. Paul, a somnambulistic teenage beauty, is drawn to Manila after his American lover and supporter of his family returns to the U.S. Young Paul is enamored by the city's notorious gay bars and nightclubs and is seduced into a world of prostitution, sexually explicit dancing and "brown slavery." The film offers a voyeuristic glimpse into the tacky yet lascivious gay underground where sexual acts are performed on stage and then bought and sold off stage. (Tagalog with English subtitles)
