I, for one, happen to like trash and “Killer Drag Queens on Dope” has all those necessary items to make it a trashy movie a plot that is totally outrageous, has wonderful one-liners (with transfer value), is replete drugs, drugs and more drugs and features one massive roller skating drag queen. Could you want anything more than that? I hear what you are already saying—why would anyone want to see such a movie? I loved its simplicity, its originality and the sheer nerve it took to even think about making it.
Ginger and Coco are drag queens who are druggies and take on hits for Ginger’s boyfriend (a mobster), Bobby. This is the movie. Neither characters nor plot are developed. Instead we have a series of scenes which are bizarre to the nth degree as we watch the “girls” murder Bobby’s enemies. The murders alone are hilarious. Ginger “offs” one guy by sitting on his face. In another scene “she” dresses as a nun. Other wonderful murders involve the use of poison darts, fencing epees. The finale alone is worth waiting for. When the “girls” are not busy committing murder, they are busy drugging it up.
This is a very funny movie. The storyline is the title of the movie so you are not required to do any thinking whatsoever. “Killer Drag Queens” looks like a home movie and that is exactly what it is. The camera work is minimal, the plot is..is there one?
It is pure escapism for 83 minutes. Alexis Arquette is
a witty and sympathetic Ginger. His drag is not a walking joke and obviously his alter ego of “Eva Destruction” helped him find his character. Omar Alexis is Coco, a drag queen who lives, eats and breathes “Lovely Linda Dolls”. The rest of the cast is just as good but it is the script that gives everyone the vehicle to perform in the crazy ways they do,
If you love those old time B movies, you can’t help but have fun with the killer drag queens. The director knew to what audience he was catering and worked it beautifully. The humor is irreverent and wins you over as does the enthusiasm of the cast.
“Killer Drag Queens on Dope” is a fun, campy and very strange flick. I am glad I saw it. If you are a fan of this kind of thing, you will enjoy it as much as I did. With its bad acting, lousy cinematography, camp humor and silly dialog, it is a great way to spend a little time having fun.

alexis arquette is a fine actor...

but as to paraphrase an old commercial: this is a fine actor... this is a fine actor on drugs.
