When a Chinese teen moves to Canada, he begins a life of gay love and lust in this captivating, cross-cultural coming-of-age drama.
Seventeen-year-old Eric is forced to adjust to a new culture, school and home atmosphere when his family moves from Hong Kong to their relatives’ suburban Toronto. Although upset by this forced immigration and familial strife, Eric is soon distracted. He meets a middle-aged Caucasian lawyer while in the city one afternoon, and the pair soon commences a sexual affair. Yet this isn’t romance: for that Eric is more interested in a schoolmate. Complications soon arrive on all fronts, however, including from Larry’s possessive ex-boyfriend, who forces Eric to go places that extend beyond mere geography. Hong Kong-based writer/director Chung, who attended Toronto’s York University, fully understands the experience of cultural diaspora and translates it to the screen with a sublime touch. Timothy Lee’s performance as Eric perfectly balances vulnerability and something that’s not so innocent. (English, Cantonese and Mandarin with English subtitles)

This is probably my favorite gay movie; it's a nicely developed film about an out-of-place young man trying to come to adjust to his new surroundings. The storyline is touching as the main character deals with his crushes, family, and boyfriend. Timothy Lee has some outstanding moments ... it's too bad he hasn't been in anything since. The rest of the acting ranges from OK to laughable. And in case you're wondering, there's some middle-aged full frontal nudity and one or two very, very quick glimpses of Timothy Lee.
