This was almost as bad as Sideline Secrets. Yes, you have some male nudity and they seem loving for a bit but I couldn't get past the bad acting and the terrible writing.

The cover is a lie. Nobody looks like that.

The best actors was the brother and possibly the DR. Nothing else was good about this film. I know, low-budget, but still.

Let's face it, all professional critics(the ones that earn a living writing reviews) hate all the films they review equally; unless, it just happens to be one of their fetishes. With that said let's get down to this film.
This picture is a mosaic of situations and emotions that all play on each other, to comprise a story line. Sure it is not the smoothest story line in actual events, but this adds to the emotional appeal of this romantic love story. The director did a remarkable job putting all the various scenes and emotional scenerios into a coherent film. Yes, it is a roller coaster ride, but it is also a very poignant and true-to-life view of LOVE. So many of us are so caught up in the"Real- World," that we fail to recognize the daily events that surround us at all. This film is one of many that help re-educate our souls to the aspect of LOVE. This one film that should be added to your collection. LOVE DOES NOT ABIDE BY REALITY BECAUSE IT MAKES ITS OWN!!! NJMJr!

"Gone, But Not Forgotten" is a romantic fantasy centering on the troubled lives of its two main characters, Mark, played by Matthew Montgomery, and Andrew (Drew), played by Aaron Orr. Mark flees his home in the city and heads into the mountains, where he ends up falling from a cliff and is rescued by Drew. Mark recovers physically from the incident but is left with amnesia. Drew then takes Mark under his wing and finally takes him home with him to his mountain cabin, where Drew subsequently falls in love with the man. Eventually, though, Mark’s identity is revealed and Drew’s life is shattered when Mark’s prior life comes back to reclaim him. The story, however, is just as much about Drew and his problems as it is about Mark and his problems. Drew is a forest ranger who is not completely dedicated to his job and is searching not only for companionship but also for his place in the world. In addition, Drew and his brother Paul, played by Joel Bryant, have issues that have never been resolved since their parents died years ago in a boating mishap. The notion of a main character having amnesia is perhaps an old one, but in this film it effectively provides a new twist to an old idea: by losing himself, Mark comes to find his true self, or, perhaps more accurately, comes to accept his true self and to find his place in the scheme of things. There are, however, numerous elements that are either fantastical or unrealistic and that compromise somewhat the believability of the story. Drew longs desperately for a soul mate, and lo and behold the perfect man appears suddenly in his life. Mark takes a plunge off a cliff during a rainstorm and is punched in the face, but he is not bruised up and his clothes are not torn and muddied, as you would expect. Forest rangers, not the local police or sheriff, handle Mark’s case. The technique of smacking in the face someone who is distraught always works as a cure. Drew is evidently serious when he tells Mark that they drain the lake every year, letting all the fish die. Although Montgomery does a good job portraying a confused and bewildered individual who pretty much goes along with whatever his newfound friend wants him to do, there is another emotional response that never gets expressed. As I understand it, having amnesia is like being lost in the wilderness: an amnesiac is very much afraid of never getting his life back just as one who is lost is very much afraid of never making it home. Mark says things that I suspect an amnesiac would never say. For instance, in one poignant scene Mark asks Drew if he is preparing himself for the day when he gets his memory back and leaves him to go back to his prior life. An amnesiac would not just assume that this would someday happen. However, in spite of the unbelievable elements, a romantic fantasy succeeds when the romantic elements are so strong and realistic that one just goes along with the fantasy, and this is the case with this film. I very much enjoyed this film. The really crucial elements of the movie all work, and director/writer/producer Michael Akers tells his story in a simple honest fashion. The way in which the characters interact is almost always very believable, and the themes of finding a companion and finding one’s place are significant and are treated in a respectable manner. I, for one, became genuinely concerned about the characters in this movie and their plight. Now, those who buy the DVD because of the provocative picture on the cover may well be disappointed with the sex scene. It only lasts a little over two minutes and there are no frontal shots. However, given that Mark is still in the process of discovering just who he is, the greater emphasis placed on courtship than raw sex seems entirely appropriate. Admittedly, though, I would have enjoyed the movie even more if there had been some casual nudity in the film, particularly since Montgomery and Orr both have intriguing bodies. My only major complaint with the movie is with the last five to ten minutes. I thought the ending, although ultimately happy, was a bit awkward and was handled in a too superficial and predictable manner. Mark returns home with his wife Kathryn, played by Ariadne Shaffer, who is an embittered woman who in the end comes to truly hate Mark after discovering that he is not the trophy husband she thought she had married. After some prompting by his wife, Mark regains the rest of his memory, and what had caused the breakup and Mark’s departure finally re-emerges. After Mark tells Kathryn that he can’t start over and change who he is, Kathryn tells Mark that she wishes he had died on the mountain and again demands that he leave and get out of her life. Mark then returns to Drew’s place, sorry that he had left in the way he had left, and is coaxed into helping Drew fulfill his longtime ambition of re-opening his parent’s former restaurant. Unfortunately, this ending was too quick and it bypassed a significant opportunity for there to be a realistic resolution to Mark’s problems that would also allow both Mark and Drew to bond even closer and get their lives in order. Mark tells the story of what led to the incident on the mountain to his wife, who obviously doesn’t care, instead of to Drew. More importantly, after the conflict between Mark and his wife re-surfaces and Mark realizes that it is irreconcilable, Mark should have been experiencing many of the same emotions as he did originally, and that should have prompted Mark to return to his new friends, and to Drew in particular, for help and emotional support. However, this doesn’t happen. Mark shows up again at Drew’s place too happy and well adjusted to the change in his life. Nevertheless, in spite of the film’s shortcomings, this is one low budget film (of unexpectedly high quality for such a film) that is well worth seeing.
