The 17 story anthology Frat Boys: Gay Erotic Stories, edited by Shane Allison, is quite a mixed bag as far as writing quality goes, but it is satisfyingly replete with randy young men. Most of them would rather play with their handsome frat mates than with their sorority sister counterparts. The very first entry, and one of the best, is "Blue Briefs," a sexy and poignant tale about two college lovers about to part forever. "The Big Brother" in the story of that name has more on his mind than just mentoring his "little brother." The two protagonists in "Date Night at Delta Tau Delta" are seemingly straight but they are not so sure about some of their fellow pledges during a wild initiation week. In "Old Glory" some fraternity brothers rig up an interesting contraption in their basement. Several of the stories contain hot and heavy sex, including "Frat Contest Gone Wild," "The Greek President and the Football Player," "The Other White Meat," "Giving It Up for the House" and "Three Little Lambs." A couple of comically amusing entries are "The Laius League," involving a rather humiliating classroom demonstration, and "Creamed," in which a horrified pledge is forced to supplement the college dean’s morning cup of coffee. Shane Allison’s own story about a Black fraternity, "There’s Something About Brandon I Can’t Put My Finger On," completes the anthology. As gay short story collections go this one ranks about average.
