Review

Deliciously trashy, this guilty pleasure makes for addictive viewing. Combining softcore erotica, horror and soap opera, Dante's Cove is one of the most pleasurable surprises to cross our desk in some time.

The first season of this series starts in the late nineteenth century as Grace (Scoggins) is on a stroll with her fine fiancé Ambrosius (Lee). Grace catches another woman eyeing her man and using her witch powers she burns the woman alive. Back at the house Ambrosius convinces his bride-to-be that he's not interested in any other woman. With that said the minute she's out the door his lips are wrapped around his servant's hungry cock. But alas Grace forgot her lovely lacy gloves and interrupts the lovers. She vaporizes the servant (too bad, he has a massive organ) and chains her lover up in the basement with a curse. She makes him old before his time and places a mirror in front of his face. And here's the clincher, he stays old and chained up until he kisses a pretty boy again.

Fast forward to now where Toby (David) is sharing a final bedroom scene with his lover Kevin (Michael). It's hot and steamy on the set (they have quite a supply of misters on this set) as the give themselves an evening to remember. Kevin leaves and there's plenty of soapy drama with the folks, but suffice it to that Kevin follows his lover to the Hotel Dante in Dante's Cove. This is the home once occupied by Grace and her fiancé Ambrosius who now haunt the house. There's a whole cast of sexy roommates, including some hot lesbians for dyke soap lovers. So to welcome Toby there's a big blowout. He's sent down to the basement where he hears a moaning under a locked trap door. He opens the trap door and lo and behold Ambrosius is still hanging by hooks from the ceiling. He manages to convince Toby to unlock him and then he kisses the hottie on the lips. Voila the curse is broken and gay Ambrosius is on the loose. You're going to need to buy this to learn what happens next. Suffice it to say that there will be plenty of skin, scary stuff and soap opera drama.

It's obvious that we love Dante's Cove and can't wait to see the next installment, we think you'll feel the same way. BTW, the score and songs are composed by Eric Allaman who wrote the music and songs for Latter Days. There just as good and add plenty to this already rich offering.

We missed the Boat

Agreed some great eye candy but like I have heard before let me buy Michael Lucas if I want to see hard core porn. We missed the boat People. Are we so hungry to see our lifestyle portrayed on the big screen that we are to accept poor acting, unhinged misguided story lines, and broken scenes poorly edited together? I must admit though Kevin and Toby really do kess I will give that to you, but, not worth my 24 dollars I spent plus shipping.

Mix Dark Shadows (original version) with lots of soft gay porn and a little Scooby-Doo, and you have Dante's Cove. Acting is so-so at best, and it's so loaded with anachronisms and non sequiturs to be laughable, only it's not bad enough to be worth a laugh. If this is the future of Gay TV, we're in trouble. Yeah, the guys are hot and the production values are okay, but that's not enough for me. (I can watch porn if I want to see hot guys "doing it".) I'd like to see a plot and character motivations that make some kind of sense.

I just got my copy today and although I have only watched episode, I must say-- WOW, this shot is HOT!!! Cute actors, plenty of tasteful nudity, tossed in with some horror elements and soap opera style story-telling. Great. I grinned in seeing the sleazy cop/detective from SIDELINE SECRETS (Jourdain Dion) being in this. At first, I had to do a double take. But sure enough-- it is him. Nice job all around. I am so glad I added this one to my collection. When does Season 2 air?!

Hot guys with hot bottoms having dumb fun

Enjoyed it but lowered my expectations around acting, dialogue and plot. Also, they could add a little multiculturalism to the cast. It was disappointing to see these guys always turned backwards when fully nude because they are extremely hot. There is one scene of full frontal in the beginning of episode one with the butler who looks to be still hard after being rudely interrupted from getting it on with the main character. Too bad he gets killed early on. I guess these actors need to keep some illusion especially if they want to land acting jobs other than porn, although maybe they could throw in a few minor characters who are willing to show more. Tracy Scoggins is OK but I'd love a major over the top actress like Zoe Lucker or Laila Rouass to show up and let these guys really know how to camp it up!

The idea is cool but the execution sucked. Plenty of hot guys including gay actors playing gay roles (loved that part).The story is poorly done and the actting ranks right up there with porn movies.
