In 1994, director Joel Schumacher cast "a tough and savvy survivor, a kid with an authentic Southern accent, a kid from a trailer park, like the character in the movie." in a lead role in his adaptation of John Grisham's The Client. His career as a child and then teen actor took in such films as Bryan Singer's Apt Pupil and Larry Clark's Bully. His work was never less than flawless. In the last few years Mr. Renfro was more well known in the tabloids for his drug problems than his film work. We prefer remember the sharp intelligence that came through in his acting.
