Amy Lane penned A Solid Core of Alpha, a stunningly gripping tale of futuristic life and loss. When I would put the book down at night to sleep, I dreamed about the characters, the story, the possibilities for these two men. I had to force myself to put it down at times so I could get other work done.
Living on a mining colony in the future, Anderson Rawn is saved from a horrific death by his older sister. He is sent on a ten year journey through space alone after space debris destroys his planet, his colony and his family. Alone, he creates a holographic family to keep him company and to help maintain his sanity. There are problems, but he makes the ten year journey with scars.
C.J. Poulson is a scientist who is assigned to greet and handle the fragile Anderson when his shuttle arrives at Hermes-Eight. He gets to host this lost soul, but when he gets to know Anderson, he begins to feel something for the guy. The problem is, Anderson is maybe too fragile and C.J. is getting too attached. C.J. and his sister Cassie are assigned to archive the ten year history of Anderson’s flight. What they see and learn for the data stored on the shuttle is exciting, mind blowing and freakish.
This is an amazing story, haunting and eerie as well as sexy and filled with love and pain. Can C.J. helps Anderson find peace? Will C.J. lose himself as he falls deeper and deeper in love with the enigmatic Anderson? Is there any hope, and what will be the fallout of this almost fatalistic attraction? Read it. You’re going to love it!
