The military has a policy of "Don't Ask Don't Tell" where homosexuality is concerned. Here is the story of one young man that joins the military despite his sexual orientation and finds other like–minded guys. This is the tale of how they excel in their career paths so that few question their dedication to their military careers, and how they still manage to satisfy their baser needs and instincts.
There is nothing more difficult for a gay man than having to hide an integral part of their lives in order to pursue service to their country. Emmett is such a young man. He joins the Navy in order to obtain an education and serve his country. What he learns about himself during his years of service allows him to become a valued member of the military family while still being able to be gay. He learns also how to pass on his experience to other gay men so that they too can become all they can be while still being true to their sexual desires and needs.
This is the story of one young man's journey to professional, personal and sexual satisfaction.

I purchased this book based upon the synopsis on the website -- "...the story of one man's experience" ...under "Don't Ask, Don't Tell." That conveyed to me that it was a non-fiction personal story. It is not. It is an erotic work of fiction. Not bad as such, but perhaps more fantasy than real life. There are references to discovery of sexual orientation, certainly part of the reality of young men in the military service, especially those coming from a sheltered and non-experiential environment. But the book also comes across in a stereotypical Marine ploy "taking care of a buddy." No doubt there are some underground military gay-friendly cliques, as well as support groups near major military bases. Although it was not my experience.
Perhaps the major thrust of the story suggested that while physical intimacy could be found and accepted, it was best not to form emotional attachments and committed relationships due to the nature of inevitable deployments, changes of duty stations, and other separations. The stories were predominately interchanges by male service-members. I don't recall any interplay between members of the civilian and military communities.
If you are looking for stories or an expose of firsthand experiences or reality of same-sex activity and relationships within the active military establishment, you will need other books and publications.
